Maria Full of Grace
2004, 101 minutes.
9:30am - 12:00NN
The long list of accolades and the Oscar recognition of Catalina Sandino Moreno say it all but there's more (as its poster show) to the tale of a spunky, impoverished lass who agrees to be a "drug mule" in able gain a better life.
The Little Prince
1974, 88 minutes.
1:00pm - 3:30pm
Based on the slim, beloved philosophical children’s classic of innocence and discovery by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, this musical magical fantasy tells the story of a desert-stranded pilot (Richard Kiley) and a lost wandering child from faraway Asteroid B-612 who wants to find a way back home. Together, the two share adventures that amuse, charm and touch the heart.
The film has its own charms with its feet firmly on the Saharan sand, its eyes titled to the stars and its spirit brightly soaring to the delightful songs of the estimable team of Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Lowe ("My Fair Lady," "Camelot"). The movie also features Bob Fosse in a sly and sinuous dance as a salacious serpent that the Little Prince met amongst his travels in the universe. Gene Wilder is also a delight as a lonely fox, and Steven Warner is appropriately cute as the title character. Kids will be hooked from the very first "Draw me a sheep."
