Gay & Lesbian
Paragraph 175
Rob Epstein/Jeffrey Friedman, USA, 1999.
76 minutes.
After "The Celluloid Closet", the tandem of Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman comes up with another award-winning documentary. This time, though, the mood is somber.
A number of Holocaust survivors were interviewed by historian Klaus Muller about the sufferings they endured due to the German Penal Code of 1871 called PARAGRAPH 175. It's simply a law against homosexual acts. These aged folks recalled their experiences with pain and bitterness while a few managed to put a tint of cynical humor to their reminiscences but the fact that Paragraph 175 persists years after Hitler's demise is more than an eye-opener.

Mumuan
Mark King Baco, Philippines, 2004.
30 minutes.
MUMUAN concerns about a UP student's repeated confrontation with an apparition in the corridors of Molave Residence Hall. Is it simply a paranormal encounter or his coming to terms with a side of him that have been dormant for a long time?
